Itinerary
In the morning pick up from the airport then head to Adelaide Central Markets, a South Australian culinary icon that dates back to 1869. Take a walk through of some of the most iconic providores in the markets. At the end of your tour, enjoy lunch at famous Italian café, Lucia’s.
After lunch enjoy a tasting at Bekkers, one of the top 6 winemakers in the country, then a drive down the Fleurieu Peninsula to check into the Coastal Lodge, overlooking Gulf St Vincent. The Coastal Lodge is a boutique retreat just past McLaren Vale with stunning views of the Fleurieu Peninsula Coastline. That evening you’ll be provided with dinner, made by the Italian wife of owner, Simon Burley.

We’ll take a walk through the sand dunes to see the famous Coorong estuary system and the Southern Ocean that borders it, enjoying spectacular views. We’ll then cruise a strip of sand in the Land Rover so wild & isolated, you’ll feel you’ve truly escaped civilisation. Fully invigorated we’ll head to Port Elliot to see Horseshoe Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Peninsula. Lunch is one of the region’s most iconic seaside diners, the Flying Fish Café.
A short drive later we’re in the holiday town of Victor Harbour to walk to the “Bluff” lookout, with its 360-degree views across Granite Island and the Southern Ocean. After climbing the Bluff we’ll tour the Softfoot Alpaca Farm. Established in the late 1990’s, Softfoot is a privately owned family farm dedicated to the breeding of World Class Alpacas as well as a Sanctuary and Genetic Ark for endangered Australian Marsupials. You’ll enjoy a private guided ATV tour of the property. Early evening we’ll drive to iconic local pub, the Victory Hotel, for a dinner in their famous cellar.
Check out of the Coastal Lodge late morning for your transfer to Clare Valley. Enjoy lunch at the famous Watervale Hotel in Clare Valley. Lunch offers broad choices, but will include some stunning meat dishes from the ‘Fires of Hell’ Argentinean asado style BBQ. The fires allow Watervale’s chefs to cook with fire and embers on grills, cast iron plate, and iron-crucifix, rotisserie, between coals, hanging above embers on hooks and chains, or slow baked in the embers themselves. Late afternoon we’ll visit the owners at Sussex Squire Wines, before checking in at Neagles Retreat in Clare Valley.
Enjoy a Ploughman’s Platter and bottle of wine from Shut The Gate Wines, which will be delivered to your guesthouse.
Enjoy a private tour of Clare Valley starting with a walk around Martindale Hall. Martindale Hall is a Georgian styled and Italianate influenced sandstone mansion which has significant heritage value in South Australia. Built in 1879 – 1880 for Edmund Bowman Jr. at a cost of £30,000 it has some 32 rooms and boasts a large cellar of some 7 rooms. Edmund surrounded the home with a polo ground, a racecourse, a boating lake and a cricket pitch where the English 11 played at least once.
For lunch visit Skilogalee Wines, siting under the oak tree overlooking the vineyards. In the afternoon savour the Revelation Tasting at Kilikanoon Wines, which includes a Shiraz that has been voted the World’s Best.
Enjoy dinner in the famous cellar at the Sevenhill Pub with a local winemaker.
Check out of Neagles Retreat and head to the Barossa Valley. We’ll start the day at Torbreck Vintners which has assembled some of the finest vineyards and growers in the region to make their ultra-premium wines. They source their fruit from vines that date back as early as the 1840s, paying tribute to these vineyards with minimal intervention, creating wines of richness, structure and length that age gracefully. Enjoy a private tasting plus a tour of their icon cellar, with its incredible collection of large format bottles.
We’ll then visit Elderton Wines, a wonderful Barossa estate with vineyards dating back to 1894. Since winning the prestigious Jimmy Watson award in 1993 for their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Elderton has been celebrated as one of the very best winemakers in the country. Enjoy a private tasting in the dining room of the original Ashmead homestead.

We’ll then head up and explore one of South Australia’s most beautiful and untouched nature reserves at Deep Creek Conservation Park. We’ll take in Goondoloo Ridge Trail to see a plethora of native animals, stunning flora and spectacular coastal views across to Kangaroo Island. Next stop is remote Blowhole Beach, overlooking Kangaroo Island. Enjoy a 4WD experience like no other, traversing a dry and dusty trail down to one of the most wild and isolated beaches on the Fleurieu Peninsula. At Blowhole Beach you’ll do a short walk on the famous Wild South Coast Way, a trail that starts on the Fleurieu and finishes 1200kms away in the Northern Flinders Ranges. We’ll guide the guests on a narrow part of the trail that skirts the cliff line and provides raw views of Blowhole Beach and the Southern Ocean. After the walk enjoy a picnic hamper of local produce from the back of a Land Rover Discovery, all looking across beautiful Blowhole Beach.
In the afternoon we’ll enjoy a drive to see Fishery Beach and the old Talisker Mine ruins, marvel at the resilience of nature slowly reclaiming the ruins of these historic silver mines, before heading back to the Coastal Lodge for a dinner of local produce platters.
Check out of the Coastal Lodge late morning and drive to Clare Valley. In the morning we’ll visit Kilikanoon Wines. Kilkanoon Wines, which has wine produced from some of the oldest vines anywhere in the world. Take a seat in their private tasting room, the Revelation Lounge, to experience their ultra-premium range. Kilikanoon is an exceptional Clare producer where terroir is treated with the utmost importance and the vines of the 1860s have been cultivated to create wines of exceptional stature. For lunch visit Skilogalee Wines. Their wines are produced exclusively from grapes grown on their own estate and styles include crisp dry whites, full bodied reds and some luscious fortified wines. Savour the view from the veranda overlooking their cottage garden and vines, enjoying a two-course lunch.
In the afternoon enjoy a Farm Tour at the property of Warrick Duthy, prominent Clare local and owner of the Watervale Hotel. Warrick’s farm is cultivated biodynamically and on this tour you’ll hear, see, smell, feel and taste your way through the farm as you learn about organic, bio-dynamic and permaculture farming, and how farm ingredients are used in the restaurant to create exquisite cuisine, that will be sampled at your dinner at The Watervale Hotel.

Early evening the guides at Rawnsley will take you to see a Flinders Ranges sunset overlooking the stunning Chace Range, whilst enjoying a glass of sparkling wine and canapés prepared by the Woolshed Restaurant, followed by a 2-course meal at the Woolshed restaurant. Take a majestic drive tour through Bunyeroo and Brachina gorges before arriving at the Prairie Hotel for lunch. Copper was discovered at Blinman in 1859 by a one-legged shepherd, which saw a surge of Cornish immigrants trekking 500 kilometres from Adelaide to seek their fortune, working in some of the harshest conditions imaginable. The Blinman underground experience offers a unique journey into the heart of an historic copper mine. With the installation of an innovative sound and light system, it transports people back in time to the lives of the miners and their families during the second half of the 19th century. Enjoy lunch at the Blinmann Pub then late afternoon return to Rawnsley Park Station for dinner at the Woolshed Restaurant.

Begin at Carrickalinga, voted South Australia’s best beach by Lonely Planet. Take a stroll in Deep Creek Conservation Park seeking out native plants and animals while enjoying views across to Kangaroo Island. Drive the steep 4WD track down to Blowhole Creek, where a short walk reveals a remote Southern Ocean beach. This beach is a beautiful backdrop for our local produce picnic served with a beer or sparkling wine. After lunch, marvel at the resilience of nature slowly reclaiming the ruins of historic Talisker Silver Mines. Cape Jervis is the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula and the departure point for your Kangaroo Island ferry, which takes you to the next part of your adventure.

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your accommodation for the next two nights at Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, enjoying dinner on both nights as part of the package.
Settle into local pace where things take time. Enjoy a ‘cuppa’ with home-made treats before
exploring tall forest where koalas snooze. Listen to bush sounds – noisy honeyeaters and parrots, cicadas or perhaps the sound of silence. Travel through productive farmland to the north coast. Begin the day on the island’s north-west in an important private wildlife refuge with Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife which was unburned in the 2020 bushfires. Check out wildlife surveys using daylight and infrared camera traps, targeting tiny endangered mammals, and get an introduction to the bush. Break for an elegant picnic lunch in the bush, featuring marinated poached chicken, fresh salads, cheeses, and boutique South Australian wines. After lunch, travel into Flinders Chase National Park via the West End Highway, stopping to learn how the bush has adapted to fire. Check out of Rawnsley Park Station and transfer to Port Lincoln. Upon arrival to Port Lincoln, check into South Point Beach House, set right on the waterfront overlooking Boston Bay in the Lincoln Marina. That night enjoy a 3-course dinner with your own personal chef using local produce, local wines, local beer and soft drinks.
We start your day by getting your bearings and great education on what makes Port
Lincoln tick, with a visit to one of the best 360′ degree views of the city of Port Lincoln,
Boston Island, Boston Bay and all the way out to the stunning Port Lincoln National Park,
then spin 180 degrees and you can view the vista to Coffin Bay, Marble Ranges and the
west coast of Eyre Peninsula.
Next, we head down to Flinders Ports Wharf. This wharf is South Australia’s main grain
exporting plant. Often you will have the opportunity to view the unloading of a fishing boat.
Then head to Lincoln Marina, home of the largest fishing fleet in the Southern
Hemisphere and learn why Port Lincoln is the ‘Seafood Capital of Australia’. Take in the
diversity of Port Lincoln’s fishing industries and vessels.
Our next adventure is to the Port Lincoln National Park. Thrilling 4WDriving over the naturally rugged and wild coastline to massive sand
dunes. Sandboarding or tobogganing is awesome fun for young and young at heart, cruise
down the high peaks of the sand-dunes whilst overlooking the beautiful Southern Ocean
and clifftops, is not to be missed. Of the 29,000ha National Park, you can walk, hike or
beachcomb along many of the secluded beaches and hiking trails. Lunch is a gourmet seafood Aussie picnic style.
From here, we get up close and personal at arguably one of Australia’s very best habitats
where wild Koalas can be found in a wonderful private nature reserve. We stroll under
the beautiful old Eucalypt trees and come face to face with the cuddly icon of Australia as
they laze in the Manna gums. Due to the gums being stunted in growth, your view of the
koalas are at eye level and you will definitely need more than 2 hands to keep count!
Your dinner will be 3 courses of fresh local produce provided by your hosts, with local
wines, local beer and soft drink.
Enjoy a short drive to the home of the finest oysters and fishing in the world, the
beautiful Coffin Bay. The area is of outstanding beauty, world famous oysters and is
home to a variety of important species of flora and fauna, which is why it’s classified as a maritime wilderness area.
Oysters are on the menu and we take a 1.5-hour tour with Coffin Bay oyster farmer Chris
Hank on his oyster cruise. Chris will showcase the Pacific
and the Native Angasi Oyster from a picturesque oyster-lease in the bay of Coffin Bay.
Fresh out of the rack, you get to sample these magnificent Oysters proving why they end
up in the top restaurants around the world.
Lunch is fresh seafood at Coffin Bay 1802 Oyster Bar. Our next highlight of the day is a guided walk that will educate and
inspire all with appreciation and the conservation of the natural environment. Learn about the unique natural bushland of the
Grassy Low She-oak Woodland that is a ‘Heritage Listed’ area. Get into the action with
water divining, understanding and experiencing ‘bushtucker’ and then relax and marvel at
the central meeting place that is truly like no other, whilst listening to the sounds of the didgeridoo. You might even get to check out
Australia’s cutest animal, the native pygmy breeding program.
Next, we meander out to the Coffin Bay National Park, which offers some of the most
spectacular coastal scenery in South Australia, ranging from ancient granite, limestone
and sandstone cliffs to long beaches bordered by white sand dunes. Framed by the sea,
wildlife is plentiful throughout the 31,000 ha National Park
with Western Grey Kangaroos, Emus, Goanna’s and Snakes and Dolphins in the Bays.
There are plenty of lookouts for spectacular views.
That night enjoy the Del Giornos seafood menu at this iconic seafood institution.
