Day 2

Starting with the best of the region’s wines, you’ll enjoy a Wirra Wirra Barrel Hall tour and Old Cellar Door masterclass from industry experts. Then a quick trip up the road to experience a winery tour and tasting at Samson Tall. Experience the wild coast of the Peninsula taking a 4WD cruise along Silver Sands renowned white beach, before heading to the cattle country of the Fleurieu Peninsula. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of the Soft foot Alpaca Farm, classic Aussie BBQ lunch, a glass of sparkling at a magnificent coastal lookout, kangaroo spotting at sunset followed by a private dinner inside the acclaimed Victory Hotel Cellar, with matched wine from Publican Doug Govan’s collection.

Day 3

Explore one of South Australia’s most beautiful and untouched nature reserves at Deep Creek Conservation Park. Take a guided walk along the 3km Goondoloo Ridge Trail to see a plethora of native animals, stunning flora and spectacular coastal views across to Kangaroo Island. Next stop is remote Blowhole Creek Beach, overlooking Kangaroo Island. Enjoy a 4WD experience like no other, traversing a dry and dusty trail down to one of the most wild and isolated beaches on the Fleurieu Peninsula. At Blowhole Creek Beach you’ll walk on the famous Heysen Trail, which skirts the cliff line and provides raw views of Blowhole Creek Beach and the Southern Ocean. After a short walk on the Heysen Trail enjoy a picnic hamper of local produce from the back of a Land Rover Discovery accompanied by a cleansing ale or cold glass of sparkling, all looking across beautiful Blowhole Creek Beach.

Start your day with a magnificent 4WD trip through a series of farm trails right up to Steingarten Vineyard at the top of the Barossa Ranges to enjoy a glass of this most famous riesling overlooking the valley. We’ll then head to Seppeltsfield Estate for a tour of the Vasse Virgin Olive Oil and Skin Care factory to try their amazing soaps and therapeutic products, then a degustation lunch at acclaimed Fino Restaurant, which food critic John Lethlean calls the “best place for a long lunch in Australia”. We’ll finish the day with a tour of the famous Centennial Cellar and the Taste Your Birth Year Port experience.

Highly limited, Hickinbotham now produces its own wines that are regarded as some of the best single estate wines in Australia. Visit the “White House”, Hickinbotham’s private chateau, for a drive tour of the estate and tasting with the Vineyard Manager or Winemaker. After Hickinbotham, take a majestic drive down Silver Sands beach to see spectacular coast and biodiversity, then finish the day with a scenic helicopter flight over McLaren Vale’s coast and vineyards, guaranteed to take your breath away. Drive up to Flinders Rangers in luxury 4WD through Clare Valley, Melrose, and Hawker. Enjoy a tasting and lunch at one of the most famous small-batch wineries in the Clare Valley. In Melrose visit the famous North Star Inn for a cleansing ale with the locals. At Hawker take a walk to the summit of Jarvis Hill to see spectacular views of the Central Flinders Ranges. After Jarvis Hills drive the stunning Flinders Ranges Way to see incredible ancient geology and rock formations, then check in to Rawnsley Park Homestead.

Overnight

Stay at the traditional Australian homestead at Rawnsley Park Station. Built-in 1950 from stone quarried on the property, has been beautifully renovated and transformed into indulgent, contemporary accommodation. Sit on the wide verandah and soak up the breathtaking views of the surrounding Chace Range – or take a dip in your private swimming pool, then enjoy a 3-course dinner at their acclaimed Woolshed Restaurant, built around the old shearing quarters.

Day 4

In the morning take a private tour of Rawnsley Park with the Station Manager, to learn the history of the property and see working areas of this famous sheep station. Late morning you’ll take a majestic drive tour through Bunyeroo and Brachina gorges before arriving at the Prairie Hotel for lunch. The Prairie Hotel is owned by the Fargher family, who have run sheep and cattle in the Flinders Ranges for four generations and in 1991 bought their local pub, turning it into an outback dining sensation and must-do for any Flinders visit. After lunch visit the old copper mining town of Blinman before returning to Rawnsley Park Station for a dinner under the stars, catered privately to your homestead.

Overnight

The Coastal Lodge is a beautiful B&B with 3 suites overlooking the rolling countryside and Fleurieu Coast. For dinner, enjoy a Wild Coast BBQ which showcases the quality beef our region is known for accompanied by wine from the owner’s private cellar.

Day 2

+

Begin at Carrickalinga, voted South Australia’s best beach by Lonely Planet. Take a stroll in Deep Creek Conservation Park seeking out native plants and animals while enjoying views across to Kangaroo Island. Drive the steep 4WD track down to Blowhole Creek, where a short walk reveals a remote Southern Ocean beach. This beach is a beautiful backdrop for our local produce picnic served with a beer or sparkling wine. After lunch, marvel at the resilience of nature slowly reclaiming the ruins of historic Talisker Silver Mines. Cape Jervis is the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula and the departure point for your Kangaroo Island ferry, which takes you to the next part of your adventure.

Overnight

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your accommodation for the next two nights – choose from Oceanview Eco Villas or Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge at the time of booking – all reservations will be on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 3

+

Settle into local pace where things take time. Enjoy a ‘cuppa’ with home-made treats before
exploring tall forest where koalas snooze. Listen to bush sounds – noisy honeyeaters and parrots, cicadas or perhaps the sound of silence. Travel through productive farmland to the north coast. Walk bush trails seeking out small wallabies, endemic kangaroos and other birds, plants and animals. Take a break to enjoy delicious grilled fish, fresh salads and fine South Australian wines and beers a private bush camp. At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private guided tour among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful beach – an experience reminiscent of the Galapagos. Watch pups nursing or at play in the surf, see old bulls scarred by territorial battles and learn about their unique breeding biology.

Return to your same accommodations at the conclusion of today’s adventure and enjoy the
hospitality (dinner, bed and breakfast) and if conditions are clear, take the chance to check out the Southern skies or nocturnal wildlife near your lodging.

Day 4

Begin the day on the island’s north-west in an important private wildlife refuge with Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife which was unburned in the 2020 bushfires. Check out wildlife surveys using daylight and infrared camera traps, targeting tiny endangered mammals, and get an introduction to the bush. Break for an elegant picnic lunch in the bush, featuring marinated poached chicken, fresh salads, cheeses, and boutique South Australian wines. After lunch, travel into Flinders Chase National Park via the West End Highway, stopping to learn how the bush has adapted to fire. Explore Cape du Couedic including the lighthouse precinct and our most iconic coastal landscapes. This includes the massive shapes of Remarkable Rocks, a natural sculpture perched impossibly on top of a dome of granite emerging from the ocean. See the power of the Southern Ocean swell at Admirals Arch – a coastal grotto which provides a haul out for a large colony of Long-nosed fur seals who swim effortlessly through the crashing waves. Visit Rocky River, an important breeding ground for rare Cape Barren Geese before returning to Kingscote Airport to conclude the tour.
