Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in a comfortable Land Rover Discovery 4×4.
Arrive at Yangarra to experience one of the region’s most hallowed wineries, whose philosophy centres on producing wines solely from their single vineyard estate. Begin with a guided walk through the winery, including their world famous barrel room.
Next enjoy a private vineyard tour to visit the old bush vine Grenache Vineyard and taste High Sands, Australia’s most famous Grenache. Returning from the vineyard, explore the lower level of the ferment room before taking the lift back up to complete your tasting.
For lunch visit the Salopian Inn, one of Australia’s Top 100 restaurants as voted by both the Australian Financial Review and Tasting Australia. Savour a beautiful 3 course lunch in this stunning old homestead with its expansive vineyard views.
After lunch, we’ll head to one of McLaren Vale’s best wineries, Bekkers Wine, for a private masterclass with one of the owners whilst overlooking their beautiful estate. With a singular focus on Syrah and Grenache, Bekkers was named as one of the top 6 wineries in the country by Gourmet Traveller Wine in 2019.
Late afternoon we’ll drive down a wild Fleurieu Peninsula beach on route to the region’s most famous pub, the Victory Hotel. This ‘must do’ McLaren Vale experience drives down Silver Sands beach in our Land Rover to see majestic coastline and spectacular biodiversity.
Established by publican and wine judge, Doug Govan, the Victory Hotel is a haven for visiting winemakers with one of the best local and international wine collections in the state. We’ll explore Doug’s wine collection, which includes Australia’s largest private collection of Wendouree Wines, plus a visit to the ‘antechamber’ to see Doug’s collection of rare magnums.
