Itinerary
In the morning pick up from the airport then head to Adelaide Central Markets, a South Australian culinary icon that date back to 1869 .Take a walk through of some of the most iconic providores in the markets. At the end of your tour, enjoy lunch at famous Italian café, Lucia’s.
After lunch enjoy a tasting at Bekkers, one of the top 6 winemakers in the country, then a drive down the Fleurieu Peninsula to check into the Coastal Lodge, overlooking Gulf St Vincent. The Coastal Lodge is a boutique retreat just past McLaren Vale with stunning views of the Fleurieu Peninsula Coastline. That evening you’ll be provided with dinner, made by the Italian wife of owner, Simon Burley.
In the morning enjoy a stunning drive through rolling hills to the mouth of Australia’s longest river, the Murray River. We’ll take a walk through the sand dunes to see the famous Coorong estuary system and the Southern Ocean that borders it, enjoying spectacular views. We’ll then cruise a strip of sand in the Land Rover so wild & isolated, you’ll feel you’ve truly escaped civilisation. Fully invigorated we’ll head to Port Elliot to see Horseshoe Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Peninsula. Lunch is one of the region’s most iconic seaside diners, the Flying Fish Cafe on the boardwalk at Port Elliot.
A short drive later we’re in the holiday town of Victor Harbour to walk to the “Bluff” lookout, with its 360-degree views across Granite Island and the Southern Ocean. After climbing the Bluff we’ll tour the Softfoot Alpaca Farm. Established in the late 1990’s, Softfoot is a privately owned family farm originally dedicated to the breeding of World Class Alpacas as well as a Sanctuary and Genetic Ark for endangered Australian Marsupials. Guests will enjoy a private guided ATV tour of the property. Early evening we’ll drive to iconic local pub, the Victory Hotel for a dinner in their famous cellar.
In the morning start the day with a walk at Carrickalinga Beach, voted South Australia’s finest by The Lonely Planet in 2019. We’ll then head up and explore one of South Australia’s most beautiful and untouched nature reserves at Deep Creek Conservation Park. We’ll take in Goondoloo Ridge Trail to see a plethora of native animals, stunning flora and spectacular coastal views across to Kangaroo Island. Next stop is remote Blowhole Creek Beach, overlooking Kangaroo Island. Enjoy a 4WD experience like no other, traversing a dry and dusty trail down to one of the most wild and isolated beaches on the Fleurieu Peninsula. At Blowhole Beach you’ll do a short walk on the famous Wild South Coast Way, a trail that starts on the Fleurieu and finishes 1200kms away in the Northern Flinders Ranges. We’ll guide the guests on a narrow part of the trail that skirts the cliff line and provides raw views of Blowhole Beach and the Southern Ocean. After the walk enjoy a picnic hamper of local produce from the back of a Land Rover Discovery.
In the afternoon we’ll enjoy a drive to see Fishery Beach and the old Talisker Mine ruins, marvel at the resilience of nature slowly reclaiming the ruins of these historic silver mines, before heading back to the Coastal Lodge for a dinner of local produce platters.
Check out of the Coastal Lodge late morning and drive to Barossa Valley. We’ll start the day at Torbreck which has assembled some of the finest vineyards and growers in the region to make their ultra-premium wines. They source their fruit from vines that date back as early as the 1840s, and pay tribute to these vineyards with minimal intervention, creating wines of richness, structure and length that age gracefully. Enjoy a private tasting plus a tour of their icon cellar, with its incredible collection of large format bottles.
Next enjoy a two-course lunch with wine at Vintners Bar & Grill, a Barossa icon and multi award winning restaurant that creates distinctive and brilliantly balanced dishes in the heart of the valley. Late afternoon drive to the Riverland and check into The Frames Luxury Villas, where a 3-course dinner will be catered to your villa.
Mid-morning enjoy the Riverland Wetlands & Wildlife Experience. This exclusive guided river cruise in the Frames comfortable and customised dinghy takes you through the creeks and wetlands of the Murray River. Encounter diverse wildlife and birds of the region. It includes morning tea, a gourmet lunch, refreshments and a visit to the Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery.
Late afternoon return to your villa for some R&R, then savour a signature 3 course dinner using local produce, cooked in front of you by one of the chefs of the region.
Check out of the Frames. Late morning we’ll drive to the Flinders Ranges, along the way we’ll stop of near Hawker to see a spectacular section of the Heysen Trail overlooking the Central Flinders Ranges. Our destination in the Flinders is Rawnsley Park, a sheep station running approximately 2000 sheep on 12000ha of land. Early evening the guides at Rawnsley will take you to see a Flinders Ranges sunset overlooking the stunning Chace Range, whilst enjoying a glass of sparkling wine and canapés prepared by the Woolshed Restaurant, followed by a 2-course meal at the restaurant. Overnight in a Rawnsley Park Eco Villa.
Take a majestic drive tour through Bunyeroo and Brachina gorges before arriving at the Prairie Hotel for lunch. The Prairie Hotel is owned by the Fargher family, who have run sheep and cattle in the Flinders Ranges for four generations and in 1991 bought their local pub, turning it into an outback dining sensation and must do for any Flinders visit. Try a range of signature dishes, including their famous Feral Feast. Late afternoon return to Rawnsley Park Station for dinner provided to your eco villa.
In the morning we’ll drive to Blinman, which is an historic copper town surrounded by spectacular hilly desert countryside, with a permanent population of only 18 people. Copper was discovered at Blinman in 1859 by a one-legged shepherd, which saw a surge of Cornish immigrations trekking 500 kilometres from Adelaide to see their fortune, working in some of the harshest conditions imaginable. The Blinman underground experience offers a unique journey into the heart of an historic copper mine. With the installation of an innovative sound and light system, which includes storytelling, light boxes, music, a mix of theatre and mining history and experienced tour guides, it transports people back in time, to the lives of the miners and their families during the second half of the 19th century. Enjoy lunch at the Blinmann Pub then late afternoon return to Rawnsley Park Station for dinner at the Woolshed Restaurant.
